If a candidate is not in India at the time of CAT meaning either he/she is studying or working abroad can submit a GMAT score to the IIMs for their 2 year pgp programs. For PGPX, a valid GMAT or GRE score is mandatory; online or at-home test scores are not accepted — only test-centre-based scores within the last 5 years qualify. The published advisory is to aim at or above the 70th–75th percentile on both quant and verbal sections. In practice, the average GMAT for admitted PGPX candidates hovers around 697 on the Classic scale in recent batches, with successful applicants typically in the 680–720 range (or 655+ on the GMAT Focus Edition).
