I don’t have exceptional academic or work experience. Is it still possible for someone average to make it to ISB if the story is strong?

“Average” is a misleading frame for ISB admissions. The ISB PGP Class of 2025 had an average GMAT around 720 (classic) and average work experience of 4–4.5 years, but those numbers come from a batch of roughly 870 students with very different profiles — engineers, CAs, doctors, defence officers, entrepreneurs, PSU professionals. What ISB actually evaluates is the holistic story: academic consistency, professional progression, leadership evidence, clarity of post-MBA goals, and cultural fit. A candidate with a 645 GMAT and a coherent career trajectory often beats a 715 with a generic narrative. The hard filter is internal coherence of your profile, not a benchmark score. If your academics, work, and aspirations connect into one credible story, you are not “average” in any way that matters to the ISB adcom.
