A 93 percentile in CAT closes the door on the older IIMs — Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow, Kozhikode, Indore — for General category candidates for the 2 year programme, whose effective shortlist cut-offs sit at 99+ percentile. However, 93 percentile keeps several newer IIMs in play: IIM Kashipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Raipur, IIM Rohtak, IIM Trichy, and IIM Udaipur typically shortlist General candidates in the 90–96 percentile range, depending on program and year. Reserved category candidates have materially lower cut-offs across all IIMs. Specialised programs such as IIM Kashipur’s PGPBA and IIM Udaipur’s GSCM can go below 95 percentile overall. Your academic record across 10th, 12th, and graduation, work experience, and gender diversity then matter significantly in the composite score. A lot of IIMs accept the CAT score for their one year programme also like IIMK PGPBL, IIM Indore EPGP, IIM Udaipur GSCM/DEM etc. For a realistic map of which IIM calls actually convert at which percentiles, see https://www.goalisb.com/post/cat-percentiles-for-iim-interview-calls.
