I want to know how tough the IIM Executive MBA admissions really are — is it easier than full-time MBAs or just as competitive?

IIM MBAs for experienced executives are not easy to get into acceptance rates at IIMA PGPX, IIMB EPGP, IIMC MBAEx, and IIML IPMX typically sit in the 10–15% range, comparable to selective global one-year MBAs. Selection weighs GMAT or GRE scores (typical admitted average 680–720 on Classic), work experience quality, academic record, essays, recommendations, and interview performance. IIMA PGPX RTI data shows the admitted cohort averages 7.82 years of experience for men and slightly lower for women. IIMB EPGP looks for strong leadership evidence and career progression alongside GMAT 680+. The critical insight: high GMAT alone does not secure admission, candidates with stagnant career trajectories get rejected regardless of test score, while candidates with promotions, P&L ownership, or meaningful leadership at 680–700 GMAT often get in. Round 1 applications have a meaningfully higher success rate than later rounds. Detailed admit strategies at https://www.goalisb.com/post/how-to-get-into-iim-executive-mba.
