I’ve heard it’s competitive, but I want to know just how tough it is to get into an Executive MBA like IIM Ahmedabad’s PGPX.

IIM executive MBA admissions are highly competitive, though the benchmarks differ from the two-year MBA. For IIM Ahmedabad PGPX, RTI-disclosed data shows the admitted cohort’s average GMAT around 697 on Classic with average work experience of 7.5 years; acceptance rates sit in the 10–15% band. IIM Bangalore EPGP admits candidates with 5–12 years of experience at similar GMAT profiles. IIM Calcutta MBAEx and IIM Lucknow IPMX operate in the same range. Beyond test scores, adcoms weigh career progression — promotions, role size, P&L ownership — along with academic record, essays, recommendations, and interview performance. The hard truth: a 720 GMAT alone does not secure admission. Candidates with stagnant career trajectories get rejected even at high scores; candidates with strong leadership track records at 680 GMAT get through. Round 1 applications have a meaningfully higher success rate than Round 3. Detailed admit strategies for IIM executive MBAs at https://www.goalisb.com/post/how-to-get-into-iim-executive-mba.
